Good morning. [An awkward pause while she arranges her thoughts. Her Mareep toddles over to Hindenburg and peers up at him curiously.] I hope I'm not intruding, but... are you alright?

["Floooon!" He remembers Kay! The balloon pokemon drifts out from behind Jack and floats in bobbing circles around Kay and her Murkrow, thrilled with the attention.

Jack can't help but squint at Hindenburg a little. He hadn't been a very big help back there. Who ever heard of a cowardly ghost?]

I'm glad I got to meet you before you took off! I'm afraid I don't know much about you-- but if I'm going to be here for a while, I think it's time to get to know everyone.

[Jack wasn't unfriendly, but before, he hadn't wanted to get too cozy and then just disappear!]

Oh-- hah. No. You're not bothering anyone.

[He gives her a weak, embarrassed grin.]

Just feeling a bit sorry for myself.

[Hindenburg has never met a yellow sheep before so he keeps his distance at first, reaching out one of his tails to poke at the Mareep's nose to see if it's dangerous.]

[ With an affectionate grin, she raises a hand to give the little balloon a pat, while Byrne eyes it warily. She's got one of her own, but he's the most timid thing out there. ]

Well, I'm here to answer any and all questions, so if you've got any, fire away!

[ Kay's grin turns rueful. ] Since I don't really know much about you either, except that you were dead and you live in a really fun town.

Oh yes, he was the first friend I caught.

I see... [She sits down next to him, tentatively.] Would it help... to talk about it?

Eep! [Laine wrinkles her nose at the poke, then hops around Hindenburg until she's behind him. She hops up and down, tail wagging playfully.] Mareep!

[Jack scratches his head and finds a leaf in his hair that Hindenburg deposited as a 'gift' earlier.]

Well...what do you like to do here? Up until now, I've just been looking for a graveyard since sometimes you can get home that way. I have no idea what I'm doing now.

[He actually kind of failed at talking about himself. Everybody back home knew more about him than he would have liked. It sucked being a celebrity. Here, though, he was unknown (or so he thought). Maybe he could become someone new!]

I like to do everything! [ ... which isn't really an exaggeration at all, but she'll amend it. ] Training, eating out with my friends, checking out the town from the rooftops, traveling, seeing if any towns have secrets or treasures... I thought Sprout Tower would have something, but it was just a lot of ghosts and boring bald guys.

Really? A Hoot Hoot was the first pokemon I caught myself too! He woke Edgar and I up with his screeching and we went to find what it was.

[Jack makes no moves to protest. He appreciates the company!]

Well. Thing is, I've been traveling just to find this tower, thinking it was the way home. Now, I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself.

[The balloon pokemon whrils around, trying to keep his eyes on Laine. "Flooon!" He plucks a leaf from the bushes Jack has been sitting near and drops it for the sheep. This is a very special gift apparently.]

And pain. It's got plenty of that!

[If Jack were a meaner person, he would encourage people he didn't like to go into that God-forsaken building for a 'surprise'.]

I should really train more. I tried checking out that whole mess with the...ice? Diamonds? Something like that. And those strange black pokemon. And they-- [here, he concentrates, trying to remember that word he'd heard the younger trainers spouting back and forth.] wasted us.

[Sakaki glances over at the Sprout Tower, which she actually hasn't tried to explore yet. She's not sure how it could relate to someone's home... but oh well.]

Mm... I'm sorry... that it didn't work out. For what it's worth... you're not alone, in wondering what to do.

[Laine peers down at the leaf, mouth open in a curious little 'o'. After a moment, she lets out a happy "Reep!" and picks the leaf up, tail bouncing. She will treasure it forever. ♥]

Ara, really? Mine is rather lazy, so he let me catch him with very little effort. *As if to reply to this, he lets out a hoo!-- Then promptly goes back to being half asleep.*

[ Kay pats his shoulder sympathetically. ] If it helps, I got trapped in there for a week once.

[ AND SHE HAS NEVER GONE IN THERE AGAIN, but the past is the past. ] -- Oh, the crystals and the... letter things! They were kind of fun to spell things out, but there were a lot of them, huh? [ and she was kidnapped for the majority of that and missed most of the fun, boo. ] But if you need any help with training, I'm--

... well, Byrne trusts me to keep him in one piece!

[Jack grins, fascinated by how different two pokemon of the same species could be.]

My Hoot Hoot's kind of crabby. [With it being daylight, Jack thought better of bringing him out so Machi could see.]

[A goofy-sounding warble leaps into Jack's voice as he leans away from her at the idea.]

A WEEK? How did-- what did--

[This Kay character was tough. He wasn't sure he could survive being dragged up and down stairs for a week. But he was a newb at being human. Maybe they got tougher.]

Training? That'd be great.

[The ex-skeleton can't help but look embarrassed. He's fought some wild pokemon...but no trainers. Slacker!]

[And that is how Laine and Hindenburg became LEAF FRIENDS.]

What are you doing? In this place, I mean. Is it all about the fighting?

Crabby? How so?

Well, he tends to bite. And make this face--

[Jack did his best Doc impression, which consisted of a real-life >8C.]

[This takes a bit of consideration.] Well... Yes and no. I have been fighting, but... more than anything else, it's for my Pokémon's sakes. Maru-chan enjoys fighting, and Akira-chan suffers from headaches that will go away when she evolves...

[At this point Laine trots over and hops into Sakaki's lap to show her the new gift she's gotten!] Ah! Laine-chan? What...

Uhuhuhu... My my, it's rather impressive that you could make a bird with such a small mouth bite you.

It's a long story, but the ghosts got bored and sent a bunch of people all over the place.

[ and then she got possessed and then they got chased by a Haunter and a Gastly stole her clothes and then a giant plant came in through the ceiling, IT WAS GOOD TIMES. ]

But yeah, I don't mind helping! I've got Murkrow and balloon experience!

[Bitty's one eye widened in mechanical wonder at the spectacle of the puffed-up Pokemon... before beeping shrilly with glee, spinning his magnets and bumping against his OMG BFF FOR LIFE.]

I don't think so... but I could be wrong.

... Yup. Been stuck for a whole damn week there. And I'm never getting close to it ever again.

[D'B "FLOON!" Hindenburg tried to float away but found himself stuck to Bitty with static electricity. "Driftlooon!"

Jack was rather oblivious to his pokemon's woes.]
