5 days till Halloween [Video]

[The feed opens on the path winding through town. Jack is sitting under a tree near the entrance with his Poke'Gear pointed at it. Edgar occasionally hops into view, pecking at the ground. It's afternoon.]



Hello! Before Edgar and I head off in search of the tower with the ghosts, I thought we would stay around here a few days. Would anyone in the area want  to meet and swap stories? We're in Cherrygrove!

[He tilts the 'Gear up to point at the sign.]

[Phoenix can't help but notice the jovial guy sitting all by his lonesome, and decides, oh, what the hell, it couldn't hurt to talk. He walks over, his Wooper and Sentret close behind him.]

...y'know, you might be the most cheerful person I've seen here so far.

[Jack had folded his arms behind his head and leaned back against the tree by now. Noticing Phoenix's footfalls, he glances up and breaks into a broad, crooked grin.]

Hello! Well, I haven't met many folks, so I don't have a very good idea of what everybody else is like. Are they all...violent?

[He rubbed his neck, wincing. He knew what old army guys were like. Ow.]

Well, er. Not violent, really, although most everyone here is a bit. Snippy. _{Considering the situation.}

[He pauses for a second before hesitantrly sitting down beside Jack, a bit wary of how awefully cheery the guy is. A bit worrying, really.]

Ah, I'm Phoenix. Phoenix Wright. [He grins anyway, though, and holds out a hand for Jack to shake.]

[That sounds like the beginnings of a song. It must come to be.]

Oh. Ah-- right.

[Jack looks like he's tasted something kind of sour but quickly shakes it off when he notices Phoenix's Pokemon. He flips the Poke'Gear open to learn more about them. Edgar seems more interested in Phoenix though. She narrows one eye at him at a time, trying to figure out if the lawyer is going to flying tackle her master or not. >8c!]

Good to meet you, Phoenix! How long have you been in Pokemon Town?

[He gladly accepts the shake with one of his own spidery hands.]

[Butch and Lady -- the Wooper and the Sentret, respectively -- are too busy eying Edgar to pay much attention to Jack and his Pokegear. Butch, being the ever-smiling derp that he is, lets out a cheery "Woooopa!" of a greeting, while Lady is giving her a suspicious glower.]

Ah-- [He scratches the back of his head in that sheepish manner of his, trying to recall when exactly he got here.] About a week, maybe? [He glances at Jack curiously.] How about you?

[Edgar had never seen anything like Lady or Butch so when she'd decided Phoenix wasn't a threat, she gave the both of them a long, quiet stare before erupting with a conversational, "KROWH!"]

Maybe a little less than a week. We set out for Cherrygrove a day or so after waking up. And then that took about three days. It all gets kind of fuzzy towards the end.

[Jack looks thoughtful. He really doesn't remember much between the Uncatchable Hoot Hoot and getting flying tackled by Old Snake. Maybe it's for the best.]

It's a strange place, isn't it? It's really...bright.

[Lady is most surprised, and lets out an irritated series of "Sentriii"'s before Butch smacks his tail over her mouth and adds a "Woop woopa~" of his own.]

Ah, well, you made a faster start than I did. I didn't start traveling until...maybe two days after I woke up here? Took me a little over three days to get here, and if I've been in Cherrygrove for four...that's nine days, yeah. [He counts each day off his fingers as he says this.]

...it's a really strange place. _{Although bright isn't exactly a word I'd use...?}

[Edgar seems pleased with this reaction and tries for it again with another loud, "KOH- KROWH!"]

Well, to be honest, I was looking for a way out of here. Didn't find one. It's more colorful than what I'm used to.

[He pulls up a fistful of grass and watches the blades drift back down to the ground.]

Maybe green's the word. It's very...green.

[Butch is...uneffected, as usual, while Lady hisses and paws up at Edgar as if she wants to fight. Whoo boy--]

Well, we're all trying to find a way home. [He shrugs, looking at Jack curiously.] The place you're from isn't...green? Don't you have, y'know, grass and trees and stuff? I mean, I'm not from here, but even my hometown has...green.

...Lady! Stop that, you're aggravating the poor thing. [He gives Lady his best >8C look, and she scowls a bit before backing off.] S-sorry about that.

[Jack's brows ping upwards. So everybody was in the same boat?]

Do you know if anyone's made it? Is there a door? The last time I ended up in another world, I fell through a door in the woods....and no. Well there IS grass but it's rarely green. It's a place called Halloween Town.

[That doesn't make you sound like a drug addict at ALL, Jack. And come to think about it...how did you even get back? Magic snowmobial?--He notices the mini fight brewing.]

Edgar! Be nice! We're not battling today! It's fine, Phoenix. She's been a little on edge.

I was sort of curious about how everyone else ended up here. I've been watching the feed and there seems to be more confused people every day.

Yeah, no kidding. This whole place is nuts. As for how I got here, it's not to exciting. Was walking out of the hospital and bam, here I was.

Nuts is a good word for it. It's way too colorful for me. I think I was hiding out in one of the back office rooms pretending not to be there and fell asleep.
