62 days till Halloween [Video]

[It's early. It's way, way too early, but here's Jack outside in the dawn fog, perched precariously on a ladder and stringing up lights along the eaves of his mansion. The Halloween decorations haven't even been taken down. Why would they be? Of course he's going to address the network!]

Jingle bells! Silver bells!... Bells bells bells! Aha-hah! I can't believe it, it's already here!

[At least he didn't do this on November first, right?]

I hope you've all been good! I know I have! What are you hoping to get this year from old Sandy Claws?

[His joyful yammering is cut off for a moment as his ladder wobbles and he pinwheels his arms (gear in-hand) to catch his balance. Somewhere off-screen it's possible to hear a Yamask having a poke'breakdown.]

That was a close one...I think. I think this year I'd like...a quiet holiday. And maybe hiking boots.

Well, I don't know if I'd necessarily write horror stories...I mean, I could give it a shot! I used to read all kinds of genres, from mythology to adventures to non-fiction to romance! But I didn't mind horror stories, either! Frankenstein is a really good one...and there's also a good one called The Castle of Ortanto! When it was first published, it was actually disguised as a real romance novel from Italy during the medieval times, that someone had discovered and translated...so when it started getting spooky, people were really surprised! I think that was actually the very first story ever made that was considered to be "horror", if I remember reading right.

[Most horror stories from back in her time were written by women, and tended to involve resourceful female protagonists trapped in gloomy castles; that said, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch that she would gravitate towards them.]

I've never heard of Dig, though!

I'd do so quickly; there weren't a lot, and I think they don't stay on the shelves very long.

So that means that you come up with things but you don't make them?

Oh, alright!

[SURE THAT SEEMS LEGIT.]

I'd love to, Jack! I can get my Pokemon to help and we can get it done twice as fast.

I can imagine. So, what takes longer: putting up the decorations, or making them Pokémon-proof?

...That's usually what people think of their neighbors right before they get arrested, too.

[Just saying.]

I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find a story like that! It was a real trendsetter, you know! Like, it inspired a whole big genre, so it's gotta be good!

But goodness, that sounds like a pretty crazy situation...if the cave is so small, he must be freaking out that he's trapped inside.

[Not that she necessarily blames the guy for being spooked by being in the same place for extended periods of time!]

I'll have to look into it! Maybe Santa will bring it to me as a gift!

You too!

[Considering the fact that his best friend was a talented and beloved student right up until the military tried to arrest him for spying at their graduation ceremony...]

...That's also a common neighborly reaction.

Traveling? Whatever for?

Fake trees? Why would— [ for decorating the house, okay, that makes sense. but the whole tree thing on its own is weird, really he can't keep asking questions or it'll spiral into an abyss and he'll end up more confused ]

That sounds ridiculous. What day is this holiday? [ maybe levi needs to acquire a tree ]

It's not common, but it tends to be... memorable. Especially when you're the one saying that your neighbor would never cause problems.

[And even more when you're proven wrong.]

It is.

[A beat.]

...And if you're lucky or a good judge of character, you won't have one of your own by the end of the holidays season. Unless you have a cat; then you're screwed.
corporal: (so you agree??)

[ levi has a lot to learn about expressing.. positive emotions.. HE'S OFFENDED BY THEM ]

Exciting. [ perhaps. ]

I meant, what day on the calendar?
