_{[The familiar tune and bustle of the Pokemon Center betray Jack's location far before any of the scenery does. He's seated on one of the benches with his gear angled at the tattered and singed jacket clenched in his free hand. His Houndour, One, is tugging on it furiously, even though his trainer isn't putting any gusto into his side of the tug-o-war.]}

Look at this beast. Tireless. Absolutely tireless. He's been training all afternoon and still wants to play. I hope everyone is doing well.

_{[Anyone traveling along Routes 42 and 44 may have discovered strange markings on the trails. Deep gashes dig into the earth in spirals and X's. Some even resemble claw marks though they fit no Pokemon's foot and wide, wide circles loop around several trees at a time. Bundles of sticks bound together into strange formations by weeds dangle from low branches and some of the trunks are marred and scratched a good nine feet off the ground.]
