48 days till Halloween [video]

_{[The feed flickers on to show THE WILDERNESS. Specifically, the outskirts of Goldenrod. The camera is jarring slightly as Jack walks. He's already puffing slightly. It's been a while since he's stretched his legs somewhere besides pavement.]}

Today's the day! I'm getting out of that stuffy house and making my way to Lavender Town. Why...I don't think I've even been to another town since I arrived in Goldenrod years ago. This is so exciting!

Needless to say, Drama classes will be canceled and if anyone needs to send me anything, forward it to Ecruteak. Wish me luck!

Not every day you see someone going all the way out to Lavender. What's the occasion?

I'm going to be capturing a Lavender Town Gastly. It's something I've wanted to do for years.

Huh, you know, I wonder how they differ from the ones around the Sprout Tower...

[That's interesting, though. Not everyone would go to such great lengths for a Gastly, but who's he to judge? Ghosts are awesome.]

But if you're looking for ghosts, the town's got a pretty strong history surrounding them. I can't think of a better place to catch one.

I'll tell you if I find out anything. I'm afraid I didn't spend a lot of time in Sprout Tower.

Hey, don't worry about it. There's not much to see there in the first place beyond some monks and the ghosts.

I just wish the old Pokémon tower was still around. The Radio Tower's not bad, but it's just not as interesting as a haunted cemetery.

[An indoor one, at that, if the locals' words are anything to go by.]

I haven't seen a cemetery in so long...it'll be a sight for sore eyes, I'll say that much.

Well, there's still something like it-- a little memorial house. Heard they moved all the graves from the old tower just so they could build the Radio Tower in the first place.

Haven't seen what used to be there, so I can't really compare, but it's definitely a twisted story. No wonder there are so many restless spirits there.

[Especially when you consider the reasons why they moved everything. Yeek.]

Hmm. Sounds about right. No ghost I know would take that sitting down.

What, you know a lot of ghosts back home?

Why, yes...most people where I'm from are dead. Or monsters. And you're absolutely right. Your resting place is very special--sacred even. To have it disturbed...

_{[Jack shakes his head.]}

So it's like being in a monster movie every day? Wish I could see it for myself.

[Because, dude. Halloween is one of the few holidays Riku really gets into the spirit of. Monsters are cool.]

But to think that people managed to move a whole tower's worth of graves... You'd think the place would be way worse off than it is, given how ruthless ghost types can be.

It's fantastic! _{[Not that he's biased or anything.]} My guess is that they've moved on since...or they're waiting for something. Ghosts are very mysterious. I'm just a skeleton. On the inside.

So what sets skeletons and ghosts apart? Aren't you both kind of undead?

Well, for starters, I still have a physical body. Ghosts are free to go where they please most of the time.

True. And I guess being able to slip through walls does make them pretty unpredictable. At least, if they're anything like ghost Pokémon.

The progression of undead usually goes: zombie or ghoul, skeleton, and then ghost. A vampire is undead as well but they don't really decay, but they can become ghosts in some instances.

I get the difference between zombies, skeletons, and ghosts, but where do ghouls fit into all of this?

[Come to think of it, what really defined a ghoul, period?]

Aah! Well! Sometimes it depends, but the rule goes like this. A zombie is a ghoul, but a ghoul is not always a zombie. Zombies are sometimes created and controlled by another such as a necromancer or sorcerer. They both share a taste for human flesh, however.
