_{[At first it's hard to tell that the Pumpkin King is upside down. He's hanging off the common room sofa in the Breeding Centre with his legs draped over the back. A pokemon toddling by along the cushions is the only clue to his position.]}

You know, I've been wondering...just how many of you were dead before you arrived? I admit it's gotten a little lonely on the network. We dead folk must stick together!

[He's not encountered anyone like you yet. He's met people happy about death, but you're so... casual about it.]

And how did you go?

Drowning. Like I said, a bit boring. I can't remember what was happening. I was probably being foolish. It was a very long time ago.

[A long time ago? Most people- once dead- turn up here straight away ( from what they know).]

You must have been here very long.

A little over a year maybe. Year and a half at most. It's strange-- I never really thought about how I died all those years I was dead. Far too busy. I guess having a heart beat jogged a memory or two.

... You were dead before you arrived?

[How?]

That's right. Several people in my hometown are. The others are creatures. Not very many humans. This is the first time I've been around so many humans in ages! It was-- IS a great place to live.

[Creatures? Creatures. He wonders if they're the sort that he knew of.

What would even happen to one of those if they came here? Everyone became human. Even he would rather not think about that.]

That's a good word for it! Always something happening at home. Not to say it's boring here--just a different sort of excitement.

Home... Tell me more about your home.

Well, my hometown is called Halloween Town. We bring Halloween to the world every year.

_{[There's a sort of...cringe in his voice. He's missed out on two Halloweens now. It's...getting to him.]}

The houses are nice, several of them haunted. Ghosts, so long as you get to know them, can make wonderful roommates. We've got a lively downtown area, a public park, spacious graveyard...it's just a wonderful place.
