34 days till Halloween [video/action for breeding center]

_{[HELLO, JOHTO. HAVE A SCREEN FULL OF JACK FACE. It's the turn of the month and somebody is excited about it.]}

Hello, everyone! It's Ok-toh-bah! I know some of you have to have Halloween where you're from!

Tell me what you do there! I'd love to get some new ideas to take home with me if-- You know. Anyhow!

_{[ALMOST let the sad come through. ALMOST. NO. Jack will fight his homesickness with spreading Halloween to every living breathing thing he comes in contact with this month.]}

Aaa-- only once, sort of... [[rubs the back of his neck a little]] Though I don't know if it really counts...

From what I've seen in the human world, Halloween parties are different depending on the age of the people attending it. How old are they?

Well don't keep me waiting! I want to hear a ghost story.

It's not really one, though... [[a bit apologetic and sheepish]]

I just met my sister's spirit for a moment when... when I had died myself.

Though it was just for a minute! She sent me back.

Oh, I see.

_{[Though he had frightened people to death, the idea of people dying before their time did make him sad. All the people around him Going Home made him understand the feelings of others more. It gets hard to understand why death bothers people after being dead for years and years.]}

I'm glad you got to see her.

Un, me too. I wouldn't mind being haunted if it were by her. [[a warmer smile there since whoops, he just brought the emo to the conversation and he really hadn't meant to.]] Or really by any ghost! [[once more excluding the spirit of the Ring]]

Oh, I don't know about that! I've met some pretty nasty ghosts. One I knew had a habit of hanging people upside down while they slept. I'm pretty sure that's not good for you.

[[covers a small laugh]] Sounds like that would be a problem! I don't think any of the ones in my world could do something that physical!

All sorts of tests. Most of them had the unfortunate side effect of causing death, usually in very violent ways. That's where most of the bloodstains came from.

_{[Jack is quiet for a little while because he's trying to imagine how the slowly browning color of blood would look against orange. It's not a personal favorite, but everyone liked different things!]}

What are you going to do for this year?

Considering I'm not at the Enrichment Center, I really see no need to be so festive. It's so much harder to create appropriate decorations without a steady supply of corpses, anyway.

I'm sure you could find other ways! I live in Goldenrod and some of the shops here seem to be very good at fabricating that kind of thing. It's not, you know, perfect. But it's close!

What are your ghosts like?

_{[Maybe the kid hadn't met that kind of ghost yet. Jack sort of hoped he never did. He had enough bumps and bruises now not to wish pain on anyone. Possession probably wasn't very fun.]}

[[Possession was the WORST, Bakura knew that first hand!]]

There's all sorts of different types, a lot of them the spirits of people who either died with strong emotion or with unfinished business, or who didn't have proper rites done for them. Some of them are vengeful and cause terrible disruptions in the home until they can be put to rest, others, like zashiki-warashi actually bring good luck as long as you treat them well!

[He is staring so, so blankly. What is even going on right now?]

Uh... what are you doing, anyways?

[Whoa, suddenly JACK IN YOUR FACE. It takes Merlin a few seconds of rapid blinking before he gets over his surprise enough to make the connection.]

Oh! [Lowers his voice, too.] About the pranks, you mean?

[ There's a short pause. ]

Under optimal travel conditions using previously-gathered data, estimated travel time from present location to Goldenrod City is three weeks. Given previous performance, a more realistic estimate would be at least two months.

I know not everyone is good at math, so I will put this simply. That alternative is not happening.

You really take Halloween that seriously? Most people just buy candy and dress up a little.

I don't think there's a whole lot to take notes on, honestly.

They're all kids, so I'd like it to be themed around them. Maybe we could make it a big thing for all of the children in Goldenrod?

Oh, I'm not just taking notes. I'm planning-- for Halloween!

_{[Jack draws himself up and thumps a hand to his chest.]}

Where I'm from, we spend all year preparing. It's our job to bring Halloween to everyone else. I let that slip up last year, being stuck here and all.

_{[Jack is not sensing the same enthusiasm...but doesn't lose hope. He's convinced that once the cooler weather arrives, she'll get into the spirit!]}
