Indeed. I spoke to one who looked extremely confused and upset a few days ago, though I doubt she was dead in her world.

I'm not so sure she would enjoy a party full of dead people...

...It might give her the wrong idea about this world, yes. People who think this might be the afterlife are already common enough...

Maybe newcomers need a different kind of party.

Preferably one that comes with supplies for the first few weeks of their journey.

Yes! That's a great idea! But...I don't think I can volunteer myself. I'm not the best at...jovial celebrations.

I have some experience with large events, but my world's style might be too... formal for the occasion.

A young lady spoke of creating facilities for new arrivals. Perhaps a celebration could be included.

Now there's an idea! It would be much better than getting kicked out into the world by Mom with nothing but a floppy paper book to guide you.

If anything, I'd say Mother's presence makes the situation worse for many. Her inability to recognize her own child is extremely unsettling, though her cooking is delicious.

I'll be honest, some days I worry about Mother...

Her neighbors keep an eye on her, I believe, but I must admit I wish I could help her realize her situation.

I've heard there's a holiday called Mother's Day...do you think we should send her cards?

...I've no idea. There's a chance they'd make her happy, but cards from people she met once and possibly promptly forgot might also be upsetting.

I hadn't thought of that...I'll just tuck that idea away for later.

Or you could ask her neighbors if she's ever received any before, and what was reaction. If they'd be willing to share that information.

I guess I could...I'll do that then. I think I'll do that right now--I can write a letter to send to the lab in town and they can deliver it from there.

...I hope it'll make her happy. I know that her actions when we arrive are unsettling, but her situation is still quite sad.
