_{[At first it's hard to tell that the Pumpkin King is upside down. He's hanging off the common room sofa in the Breeding Centre with his legs draped over the back. A pokemon toddling by along the cushions is the only clue to his position.]}

You know, I've been wondering...just how many of you were dead before you arrived? I admit it's gotten a little lonely on the network. We dead folk must stick together!

Yeah, not at all. [He's seen dead people dying again. Never a nice sight...

... Speaking of which, it reminds him of something that's been on his mind since like, forever or so, considering how he's been surrounded by people dying since he could only remember and even before that... And the people that could actually answer this question he's met back home weren't exactly, uh, willing to have friendly discussions with him (and vice-versa).]

... What does it feel like, anyway?

_{[Jack's grin fades away and he goes solumn. Treating death with acceptance and humor was all fine and dandy but this guy had a live-or-die situation to go back to.

The least Jack could do, should his friend not be as unstoppable as he boasted, was prepare him.]}

It all depends on how you go. I, for example, drowned. Suffocated by water, it was... unpleasant. There was an immense pressure on my lungs as I sank. I grew dizzy and then lost consciousness. No oxygen to the brain and all...I was lucky. I didn't have to watch.

[If it was just about him, Crow wouldn't be concerned at all, no. He's more curious about what people close to him who have already passed away might have felt, and even though he really doesn't want to even think of what would happen if they lost to Yliaster now, he's still concerned about his kids and friends...

And, er, the rest of the mankind.]

... Oh.

[He's heard of people who, in their desperation, tried to leave Satellite by swimming across the bay in hopes of being washed away to the City's shore... though most of them probably just chose drowning as a better (and faster) way of going than waiting to die of starvation. Crow's always figured it was logical. Now he's not so sure anymore.

... He also belatedly realizes how morbid, personal and unsubtle his question was.]

No, Crow, it's fine. _{[He smiles a little.]} Death is something man has always been curious about. I'm happy to shed a little light on the subject. You're my friend.

Although some days I do wish I'd been eaten by sharks instead. How exciting would that be? Oh, how'd you die? I had a terrible disease, how about you? I WAS EATEN BY SHARKS, ha ha!

Anyway. Being dead was alright. Some days, I miss it. It's not nearly as much trouble as being alive. It's nice not having to worry about falling apart though.

_{[He flexes his hand a little. Do you know how hard it is to put a hand back together, Crow? DO YOU?]}

[Crow lets out a small, amused snort in response.]

Dunno, being thorn to pieces and serving as fish food doesn't sound fun to me. [Kind of like back when he was nearly killed by a god of hell that looked like a killer whale...]

[HE DOESN'T well except for the part where he did break his arm once and that itself wasn't nice so he can imagine.]

Perhaps being dead is just different for your world.

Well, no, nobody has to be anything! But I've decided. When the time comes and I've done everything I wanted to do in life, I'm going to find a shark and fight it.

I'll either gain an amazing story of how my body was torn into chunks and my blood was dispersed out into the ocean from wince life came...or I'll die peacefully in my sleep as Jack Skellington--Shark Survivor.
