_{[At first it's hard to tell that the Pumpkin King is upside down. He's hanging off the common room sofa in the Breeding Centre with his legs draped over the back. A pokemon toddling by along the cushions is the only clue to his position.]}

You know, I've been wondering...just how many of you were dead before you arrived? I admit it's gotten a little lonely on the network. We dead folk must stick together!

_{[Jack's grin fades away and he goes solumn. Treating death with acceptance and humor was all fine and dandy but this guy had a live-or-die situation to go back to.

It all depends on how you go. I, for example, drowned. Suffocated by water, it was... unpleasant. There was an immense pressure on my lungs as I sank. I grew dizzy and then lost consciousness. No oxygen to the brain and all...I was lucky. I didn't have to watch.

Not a zombie, a skeleton.

[He's heard of people who, in their desperation, tried to leave Satellite by swimming across the bay in hopes of being washed away to the City's shore... though most of them probably just chose drowning as a better (and faster) way of going than waiting to die of starvation. Crow's always figured it was logical. Now he's not so sure anymore.

[She doesn't sound alarmed by it though, merely curiously and a little shocked as she had no idea.]

Might've. Not sure what happened after swimming. [He's pouting a little. It does make him sad that she might not have made it; he trusts her intellect and ability though.]

Shouldn't say. [It's obvious what it's related to. He's a lot more at ease about discussing it with Jack though, because he's the guy that really made him realise that 'Mother's not here'. She can't hear this. _Hopefully.

And how did you go?

Drowning. Like I said, a bit boring. I can't remember what was happening. I was probably being foolish. It was a very long time ago.

[A long time ago? Most people- once dead- turn up here straight away ( from what they know).]

You must have been here very long.

A little over a year maybe. Year and a half at most. It's strange-- I never really thought about how I died all those years I was dead. Far too busy. I guess having a heart beat jogged a memory or two.

Although some days I do wish I'd been eaten by sharks instead. How exciting would that be? Oh, how'd you die? I had a terrible disease, how about you? I WAS EATEN BY SHARKS, ha ha!

Anyway. Being dead was alright. Some days, I miss it. It's not nearly as much trouble as being alive. It's nice not having to worry about falling apart though.

_{[He flexes his hand a little. Do you know how hard it is to put a hand back together, Crow? DO YOU?]}

_{[Jack sighs inwardly as his friend clams up. This again? Poor guy. He tried to imagine what the pumpkin's life was like before coming to Johto.]}

That's right. Several people in my hometown are. The others are creatures. Not very many humans. This is the first time I've been around so many humans in ages! It was-- IS a great place to live.

Am not sure- is just very hard to kill us am finding.

[Let him ponder on this a bit.]

Perhaps is because we are embodiment of whole population? Would have to kill entire populace of homelands to end us.

In hurting us we just seem to... Get better, whatever is doing. At home at least.

[He's come round from some doozies let him tell you.]

[Crow lets out a small, amused snort in response.]

Dunno, being thorn to pieces and serving as fish food doesn't sound fun to me. [Kind of like back when he was nearly killed by a god of hell that looked like a killer whale...]

[HE DOESN'T well except for the part where he did break his arm once and that itself wasn't nice so he can imagine.]

[It takes France a few moments to respond to that. His face is a mixture of flabbergasted, freaked out, and lingering confusion.]
