Suffocating isn't the best way to go, I imagine. It's very painful, but at least you eventually black out. The longest you can go without breathing is er...let's see...[He does a little mental number crunching and thinking back to a few hanged people he knew who didn't die instantly.] Five minutes maybe...ten minutes? It's a little different for everyone, you'll fight for a while. It doesn't make for a very good story, but at least it's not bleeding to death slowly.
